The ASEAN-Malaysia Chairmanship in 2025 demonstrates Malaysia’s leadership and capability in steering the ASEAN Community’s agenda towards fostering regional peace, stability and prosperity of the ASEAN region and its people.
As the ASEAN Chair, Malaysia will give its fullest efforts towards building a more inclusive and people-centred ASEAN community, as well as promoting sustainable regional economic growth.
The theme of the Chairmanship which is ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’ reflects Malaysia’s determination in narrowing the development gap and inequalities, improving living standards, while mitigating the impacts of climate change.
The ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 is particularly significant for Malaysia, as it marks a decade since the formal establishment of the ASEAN community, which was launched during Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2015. At the same time, Malaysia is also the Permanent Shepherd of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 which will be launched by the ASEAN leaders in Kuala Lumpur in 2025.
